Blueberries, blueberries everywhere!

Here is a yummy way to use up some of your extra summertime blueberries...and yes, this one is family approved!

-this recipe is for 2 servings so if you want more just double everything!

Blueberry Crisp
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
4 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
topping:
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
2 tablespoons quick cooking oats
2 tablespoons brown sugar
dash of ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
2 tables chopped pecans(optional)

In a small bowl, combine the blueberries, lemon juice, sugar, and cornstarch. Transfer to a small baking dish or 2 small ramekins coated with cooking spray.
For topping, in a small bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in pecans. Sprinkle over blueberry mixture.
Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until topping is golden brown and fruit is tender.

Enjoy!!! (also works wonderfully as an ice cream topping)

I'm a slacker

Ok, so I have still been really slack as far as keeping blogs up to date....but will keep trying to do better! Summer has been quite busy so far. Preschool is on summer break so I am trying to keep both my little ones entertained all day while still trying to squeeze in time to work on ornaments. Getting a good start on building up stock for the holiday season( yes, I know it's early but you other crafters will understand). Have been trying lots of new recipes this summer and will try to post the ones that have been successful and passed the family taste test. No suprise to me, but most of those have been desserts. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!!!

May has arrived

Well, I have been a little slack with my blogging lately. Probably due to spending a lot of time enjoy the spring weather and I was on a real reading kick and read 5 books in 3 weeks. (Yes, I too have been sucked into the Twilight saga even though I said I would never read them, oh well. )
Happy to say I did find some great "American" themed fabric and will have my new 4th of July ornaments added to my site soon! Due to customer requests, I am working on setting up an ornament of the month club and will hopefully have it up and running this summer, more news to come on that later.

Spring, where are you?

Well, I wish I could say I am enjoying some lovely spring weather....but we are having unusually cool weather and lots of rain lately. Oh well, hopefully all these April showers will indeed bring some May flowers. I have begun working on a few new "summer" designs to add to Ornament Boutique. And also hope to have some new patriotic themed ornaments added before long. I am searching for some new and interesting "American" themed fabric, any of you know of a good source please let me know.

College themed ornaments

The first of my college themed custom orders is now complete! I am shocked at how many inquiries I have had about Duke and UNC themed ornaments. So of course those are the first I have added to my custom orders portfolio. Have a look and let me know what you think.

Happy St patrick's Day

A happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone! I spent the morning dealing with a 4 year old who insisted she would not be wearing green today, apparently just to battle with me. I am recovering from 3 days of no internet service, finally am connected with the world again. That was a long 3 days! I wanted to let you know about another great site I have come across. Spoonflower is a company that lets you design your own fabrics. You simply follow the easy instructions on their website to design your own print, they produce it and ship it to you! You can choose if you want your design to be public or not, they even have voted contests for some of the customer designs. If you need a unique fabric you should check them out.

My favorite of new Easter designs

Getting started

Well, I finally have my blog up and running and here's my first post! I am new to the world of blogging so be patient with me.
The recent spell of warm weather really got me inspired for spring and Easter and there are some great new designs in my shop as a result. I just love the colors associated with springtime! With so many great choices the design possibilities are endless. Remembering self control can be so hard, I just want to buy it all!
I have stumbled upon a great new site where you can find a wide variety of handmade items for sale, Found Handmade. The have an interesting way of showing items so you see lots of things all at once.
